After battling to a 4-4 tie through 6 innings, the Upson-Lee baseball team surrendered 2 runs in the top of the 7th, suffering the second loss to Mary-Persons this week. Despite loading the bases in the home half of the frame, the Bulldogs pitcher was able to record the last 2 outs via strike out.
Four costly fielding errors unraveled an otherwise stellar pitching performance by senior Austin Hendricks. He went the distance, pitching a complete game on just 91 pitches (66 strikes). His line for the night included only 2 earned runs on 7 hits, 3 strike outs and only 1 walk.
The Knights matched the Bulldogs at the plate with 7 total hits: 2 each by DH Jackson Blakely, CF Steven Marriage and 1B Logan Spivey (2B, HR, 3 RBI). Carson Lawson also contributed a base hit.
The Knights next match up is at home vs. Peach Co. on Monday, 3-29-21 at 5:55
